A Day in the Life
Every day providing in-home therapy is a little bit different.
Each day, depending on your schedule, you'll see 1-3 clients in their homes. During your session, you'll work on a set of goals assigned to your client that target a variety of skills through play routines and daily living activities. Throughout your appointment, you'll collect and document detailed data reflecting the work you've done. When your session is complete, you'll spend a few minutes reviewing the day with the child's caregiver, pack up and head out to your car to travel on to the next client and do it all over again! |

Employment FAQHow will I know what goals or skills to work on with the kids?
Each child has a set of individualized goals written by the Lead Therapist on the team. These goals can be targeted in a variety of ways through different activities and play routines that your supervisor and experienced colleagues will guide you in implementing.
Do I have to have any of my own materials?
No! Families supply all of the materials needed to provide therapy and a “library” of toys is also available to our employees for temporary rotating use. Although you are never required to have your own materials, you are welcome to bring materials that have been approved by your supervisor.
Am I responsible for the child or will there be a caregiver present?
An adult caregiver 18 years of age is required to be present at all times.
Will I be required to manage personal care tasks like diaper changes and mealtimes?
No. The caregiver is responsible for meals, toileting, illness, and emergency. In certain situations, you may participate in providing snacks or toilet training routines; however, all cooking and clean up related to toileting are the responsibility of the caregiver.
Do I work alone in the house or do I work in tandem with another provider?
Once you have completed your initial training, you will primarily work one-on-one with the child. Your supervisor will join you in the home on a regular rotation to provide supervision and coaching. On occasion, you may work in tandem with another team member to share ideas and receive support.
How much training do I get before being alone?
Initial training is a minimum of 40 hours of online and in-person training; however, most training schedules include additional in-home hours that typically occur prior to your first session alone.
What does training look like?
Your first week of training involves orientation to your role, meeting each of your supervisors, learning about the clients you’ll be working with, and online training. Following your first week, you will have at least four in-home training sessions for each client on your schedule. You’ll also attend a variety of meetings and complete additional online training. This initial training period typically lasts 3-4 weeks with further skills and strategy training taking place throughout your first four months and continuing throughout your employment.
Will I continue to get additional training after I'm on my own?
Yes! Training and coaching are provided throughout the duration of your employment.
How many clients will I be working with?
Depending on your schedule, you will work with 2-5 clients, seeing 1-3 on a given day.
How do teams collaborate and socialize?
Clinical teams collaborate in a variety of ways through meetings, tandem sessions, and written correspondence. Our teams also get together in person at our company-sponsored events and virtually through our social channels using Microsoft teams.
What does travel look like? Will I have to drive to all areas listed in the job post?
Schedules are created with your location in mind. Typically, commute time to and from home is 30 minutes or less and travel time between homes generally follows the same structure.
Do I start my days at one of the offices?
No. Your day starts when you arrive at your first client's home.
What do schedules look like?
Schedules are Monday-Friday between 8am-6pm. Each day has 1-3 clients scheduled with Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays looking the same and Tuesdays and Thursdays looking the same.
How does time off work? Do I get sick days?
All employees have paid time off to use as they see fit for personal or sick days. Time off requests are submitted to your supervisor ahead of time for approval.
How long is the application process?
From the day you submit your application to the day of your orientation, it is about four weeks to complete the interview process, background checks, schedule your training, and get you started.
Are there advancement opportunities?
Yes! FamilyPath strives to promote from within whenever possible. FamilyPath’s CareerPath opportunities begin at 120 days of employment with many opportunities for continued growth!
